NOCTURNE ROSANA

South East London four-piece Nocturne just released ‘Rosana’, the second single from their forthcoming EP. A stilted, modern beat is layered over with melancholy piano, creating a satisfying juxtaposition. Later on, distorted string picking and an electric guitar solo bridge keeps ‘Rosana’ just on the right side of indie. But it’s the bitter-sweet vocal of lead singer Catrin Vincent that takes centre stage, painting a sweeping, dusky landscape of dreamland smoke skyline” and “blossom bloom”. The EP – Winter Came – is out this weekend, with each song representing a season. ‘Rosana’ symbolises the time approaching spring, when the world comes out from the dark, fresh and new again. We think this’ll keep us going till summer. – EF
